Homemade Toffee

This homemade toffee is so easy to make, you'll never buy stored bought again! You only need 3 simple ingredients with a thermometer and you can make your own homemade toffee.

If you don't already own a food thermometer, it's highly recommended for this recipe. I recommend a candy thermometer because you can attach it to your saucepan and it's fairly inexpensive.

So to get started, you'll need to grab one stick of butter and melt that over a small saucepan or skillet.

Once the butter starts melting, add the brown sugar and salt.

Give the mixture a good whisk until melded together. Continue to stir constantly until the mixture starts bubbling.

Once the mixture reaches a temperature around 290°F - 300°F, immediately remove from the heat and pour the mixture into a baking sheet with silicone mat or parchment paper.

Let the toffee cool for about 30-60 minutes. Once the toffee is hard, break off into small pieces and enjoy!

  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
Instructions
  1. Prepare a baking sheet with a silicone mat or line with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. Add butter to a small saucepan or skillet over medium heat.
  3. Once the butter starts melting, add the brown sugar and salt. Whisk the mixture and stir frequently.
  4. Once the mixture reaches 290°F - 300°F, remove from the heat.
  5. Pour the mixture over the silicone mat or parchment paper in the baking sheet. Be careful, the sugar mixture is very HOT!
  6. Let the mixture cool for about 30-60 minutes or refrigerate for 20 minutes until the toffee is hard.
  7. Break up the toffee pieces and enjoy!
